AFTER ONLY 24 HOURS, BOHANNAN RAISES $500K

Christina Bohannan Breaks All-Time Fundraising Record for Iowa Congressional Challengers

Iowa City, IA – Today, Christina Bohannan reported raising over $500,000 for her campaign for Iowa’s 1st Congressional District. Only 24 hours after her announcement, Bohannan has raised a sizable warchest that sets her on a path to defeat Washington insider Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks next November. Bohannan surpassed the Iowa fundraising record for House challenger campaigns in their first 24 hours, a record she herself set in 2023.

“I’m so grateful for the outpouring of grassroots support we’ve received over these past 24 hours,” said Christina Bohannan.  In contrast to Bohannan’s support from everyday Iowans, Rep. Miller-Meeks’s fundraising has always relied heavily on Washington insiders and influence peddlers. Miller-Meeks has taken over $4 million from Washington special interests, corporate PACs, and the big pharmaceutical companies, and votes their way every time.

It’s the same old story: Miller-Meeks would rather cozy up to deep-pocketed donors than fight for Iowans.  Just last term, Miller-Meeks took a campaign donation from insulin manufacturers on the very same day she voted against capping the price of insulin for Iowa’s seniors.

Bohannan added, “As your Representative, I’ll take on the corporate special interests and Washington insiders that are leaving the middle class behind. Unlike my opponent, my vote is not for sale. I’m running for Congress to put Iowans first.”

Iowa’s 1st Congressional District contains the cities of Davenport, Iowa City, Burlington, and Indianola. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks faces a rematch against Christina Bohannan, who came within 0.2% of defeating the incumbent in 2024. Bohannan lost by just 799 votes and outperformed the top of the ticket by over 8 points – more than any other Red-to-Blue candidate in the country. National forecasters, including the Cook Political Report, universally rate this district as a Toss-Up for 2026. With Rep.  Miller-Meeks showing historic weakness at just 26% favorability and facing growing opposition even within her own party, Bohannan has the best opportunity to flip a Republican seat in the country.
