BOHANNAN OUTRAISES MILLER-MEEKS AGAIN, DESPITE WASHINGTON DC AND CORPORATE PACS’ MASSIVE SPENDING TO RESCUE MILLER-MEEKS

Iowa City, IA – Christina Bohannan outraised Rep. Miller-Meeks for the second quarter in a row,  $1.14M to $1.098M, and far outpaced MMM in contributions from individuals. Miller-Meeks brought in only $442,234 from individuals but a whopping $625,235 from PACs and transfers from her Washington DC party leadership. Bohannan, by contrast, raised $1,036,668 from individuals – nearly 2.5x that of MMM – and accepted no corporate PAC money.

Bohannan’s $3.01 million total for 2025 is the most raised by any challenger in the country since she launched her campaign.

The sources of Miller-Meeks’ funding reveal once again a congresswoman beholden to party bosses, special interests, corporations, and billionaires. Her campaign received $83,700 from corporate PACs (including at least $26,000 from the insurance industry) just after she voted to cut Medicaid and drive up health insurance premiums for Iowa’s working families. She even took an individual contribution from Stephen Schwarzman, Chairman of Blackstone Group, at a time when corporate landlords are buying out communities in our district and pricing Iowans out of house and home.

“This campaign isn’t about Republicans versus Democrats,” said Christina Bohannan. “It’s Iowans against the billionaires and corporate interests that Rep. Miller-Meeks allows to bankroll her campaigns and control her votes in Congress. Miller-Meeks is bought and paid for by her party bosses and Washington DC special interests, and she votes their way every time. I answer only to the people of Iowa’s 1st District, and it’s time someone started putting us first.”

Iowa’s 1st Congressional District contains the cities of Davenport, Iowa City, Burlington, and Indianola. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks faces a rematch against Christina Bohannan, who came within 0.2% of defeating the incumbent in 2024. Bohannan lost by just 799 votes out of 413,000 and outperformed the top of the ticket by over 8 points – more than any other Red-to-Blue candidate in the country. National forecasters, including the Cook Political Report, universally rate this district as a Toss-Up for 2026. With Rep. Miller-Meeks showing historic weakness at just 31% favorability and facing growing opposition even within her own party, Bohannan has the best opportunity to flip a Republican seat in the country.
